In this tutorial we’ll set up templates that define the available equipment for combatants.

Which equipment is available for a combatant is determined by the equipment slots they have and which equipment and item types they’re allowed to equip. All of this is set up in available equipment – either as a template (what we’ll do) or with a custom setup in the combatant or class of the combatant. Learn more about available equipment in this documentation.

We’ll set up templates for different player archetypes:

  • warrior (tank)
  • rogue (fast dps)
  • ranger (dps)
  • mage (magical dps)
  • monk (weaponless dps, doesn’t have access to weapons or shields)

All accessories will be available for all archetypes, but they’ll all have access to different weapons, shields and armor. We’ll only use this for player combatants, but you can use available equipment setups for enemies or just any combatant you want.

Navigate to Templates > Available Equipment Templates, we’ll change the Default template and add additional templates.

0: Warrior #

The warrior can equip most of the weapons (except for bows, staves and the Master Dagger, in case you set it up) and all shields, armor, light armor and accessories.

  • Name
    Set to Warrior.

Available Equipment Slots #

These settings define which equipment slots are used by the combatant – at least at the start, combatants can gain access to additional slots in-game, e.g. via passive abilities, equipment or schematics.

  • All Equipment Slots
    Enable this setting.
All except the monk will have access to all slots.

Available Equipment #

Defines which equipment is available. We’ll control this mainly via item types and use the available equipment settings to exclude certain individual equipment.

  • Exclude Equipment
    Enable this setting.
This means that everything can be equipped, except for what’s defined here.
Keep in mind that the item type setup (see below) will also impact this.

Click on Add Equipment.

  • Equipment
    Select Master Dagger.

Available Item Types #

Defines which item types are available to equip. The easiest setup is to define which item types can be equipped and exclude certain equipment (if needed) – otherwise you’d have to define every single equipment.

  • Exclude Item Types
    Disable this setting.
We’ll define item types that are available instead of excluding them.
